2019 RMS Spring Band Concert Information

When / Where / Who? 
  • When:  Monday, May 6th @ 7PM. Students arrive by 6:10pm, ready to play at 6:15pm. 
  • Where:  Randolph Middle School Performing Arts Center (Auditorium) 
    • Please note:  This is a new location as of April 25th, 2019​
  • Who:  6th grade band, 7th grade band, and 8th grade band. 
 

Arrival & Warm-Up Time: 
  •  Arrival Time:  6:10pm.  Students in warm up seat by 6:15pm.  
    • Plan for Millbrook Avenue traffic!

Warm-Up & Unpacking Locations:  
  • 6th Grade Band: 
    • Warm-Up on Stage 
    • Unpack instrument cases in the hallway by the nurses’ office. 
      ​
  • 7th Grade Band: 
    • Warm-Up in the RMS Orchestra Room 
    • Unpack instrument cases in the hallway by the orchestra room. 
      ​
  • 8th Grade Band: 
    • Warm-Up in the RMS Band Room 
    • Unpack instrument cases in the hallway by the orchestra room.  

Concert Attire Reminders:  
  • All:   Keep it classy.
    • Undergarments should not be visible (stage lights are VERY bright), heels should not exceed two inches,  
    • Dressy White from the waist up. 
      • White dress shirt or blouse (neckties are optional) 
    • Dressy Black from the waist down.    
      • Skirts and dresses must be at least knee-length while in a seated position.  Any student who wears a skirt/dress that is not floor length must also wear black leggings.  Students will be seated ABOVE audience audience eye level.  

Instrument Instructions: 
  • Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Alto & Tenor Saxes, Trumpet, French Horn, & Trombone Students: 
    • You must take your instruments and music home on the day of the concert and bring them to the concert.  (This is to prevent the disruption of ensemble warm-up.) 

  • Tuba & Euphonium Students:  ​
    • Bring your instrument from home for the concert, as well as your music.  If your instrument from home is not working properly, contact Mr. Norell (PNorell@rtnj.org).  Get it fixed NOW.  
      ​
  • Bari Saxophone Students:
    • ​You will use your RMS instrument.  However, you must bring your music to the concert.

Student Etiquette Reminders & Grading Information:  
  • Student Cell Phones / Devices:
    • Students must not bring their devices into the concert hall.  Any student device seen inside the concert hall will be confiscated without warning, and the student's concert grade will be lowered. 

  • Grading/Attendance:
    • Active participation in the concert (both as a performer and audience member) is worth 10% of the student's 4th marking period grade. Students are required to stay for the entirety of the concert for credit. (The concert is estimated to last about an hour.)

RHS Marching Rams - Color Guard Spring Clinics

Attention All RMS Students:
Check out the RHS Marching Rams Color Guard!


What is Color Guard exactly?
The Color Guard is an incredibly important part of a marching band that adds tremendously to the visual aspect of the band's performance.
  • Do you like to dance?
  • Do you like to perform?
  • Do you want to be part of a team?

No previous experience in dance or performing is needed.
We'll teach you everything you'll need to know!

Come to the Spring Clinics at RMS:
All RMS students are invited to check out attend one or more of the spring clinics held after school at RMS until the late buses (about 4:15pm).  The free clinics with the RHS Color Guard will take place on the following dates:
  • Tuesday, April 30th, 2019
  • Wednesday, May 1st, 2019
  • Thursday, May 9th, 2019

It's totally okay if you can't attend all of the clinics or even if you're only able to attend one of them!  Again, absolutely no previous experience is required!

In order to attend you'll need to have a signed permission slip.  You can get a permission slip by:

  • Find Ms. Dingman in the RMS Library Office.​​
  • Find Mr. Davidson in the RMS Band Room (or Room 119 next to the nurse)​
