Dear 7th and 8th grade band members,

The Drum Majors of the Randolph High School Marching Rams would like to invite you to join us on the evening Friday, October 24th, to march down to the field, play fun stand tunes and watch the Rams perform their amazing West Side Story themed halftime show!  Also, during the 3rd quarter, we will provide you with snacks and drinks!!!

When & Where:  Friday, October 24th at 5:50PM - Report to the “Flag pole” entrance at Randolph High School

What to Bring:
  • Instrument (in its case);
  • large instruments (bari sax, tuba, euphonium) will be given separate instructions at a later time.
  • Warm coat and shoes

What Will be Provided:
  • Music (Your band director will work on it during after-school rehearsals with you)
  • Snacks & drinks during half-time

Where:
  • Enter RHS at the “flag pole” entrance.  You will receive further instructions upon arrival.

The stand tunes you will play include:
  • Victors (Touchdown Song)
  • Let’s Go Blue
  • Cheer Pack
  • Iron Man
  • Hey Song

Pick Up:
After the 3rd quarter, students will be brought back to the front of the middle school to be picked up.

Even students who cannot attend should still RSVP (it will take only a few seconds)
Who wants to hang out and play cool music?!

Randolph 8th Grade Band @ "Under the Stars"

10/7/2014

  • Bands of Randolph Under the Stars Marching Band Festival on this Saturday, October 11th (report time 8PM):
    • As an 8th grade band member, students have the privilege of attending the Under the Stars Marching Band Festival as honored guests (audience members) of the RHS Band Parents Association. Please see the attachment for important information and a permission slip for this fantastic event!
    • The event features Randolph's own RHS Marching Rams. This year, the Marching Rams are performing quite a crowd pleasing show featuring the music of “West Side Story”
    • We'll need several parent chaperones for this event! Please sign up by checking the box on the permission slip.

Parents/Guardians should fill out the following permission form! (Please also RSVP using the link if student cannot attend)  http://goo.gl/forms/5qHHKopbMF

The following is admittedly long, but I just want to make sure that students and parents are in the know!

UNDER THE STARS INFO
  • Students should be dropped off (at 8PM) and picked up (around 10:50 pm) at the Randolph Middle School main entrance!  Once all students have arrived, we'll travel as a group to recently renovated stadium. There will be a roped off section of stands where the 8th grade band will sit for the performances.

  • When the students are in in the stadium:
    • Student Locations - (Once the 8th graders are in the stadium, there will be three places they will be allowed to be):
      • Seats in the bleachers (a.k.a. stands).
        • This is where students should be all of the night except during a brief trip  to the bathroom and concession stand. They will only be allowed to leave the stands with a buddy and only after they have asked a chaperone.

      • Concession stand or bathroom
        • Students should plan on bringing some cash if they would like to purchase items from the concession stand.  We will travel as a group to the concession stand.

    • Expectations of students during the evening:
      • No cell phone/iPod/etc. use in the stands during a band's performance!  Students may quickly use their devices between performances.  The district acceptable use policy must be followed.  Also, it's nice to turn off the technology every once and a while and enjoy the company instead!
      • Students will be quiet and attentive during band performances. This is proper audience etiquette for musical performances. Students are, of course, still allowed to appropriately clap and cheer during performances.
      • Students should be demonstrating good character qualities (one would hope all time, but certainly when we're together representing the middle school band program!)
      • During the Randolph Marching Rams Performance, all of our students should be standing in our section of the bleachers.
      • Any negative behavior reports from our chaperones will jeopardize student eligibility for the Music Trip to Dorney Park in the spring.

  • Emergency Info:
    • If an emergency medical situation occurs, EMS will be on site and parents will be contacted immediately.

  • Attire:
    • I strongly recommend to dress in layers as it will get colder as the night progresses.  Brownie points for wearing Randolph attire!
